Domain
The Domain section is used to view domain information and the technical status of the domain for the monitored website.
In this section, WebPixie analyzes the domain's WHOIS/RDAP data and presents important details to the user such as the domain's validity period, registration information, nameserver configuration, and registrar information.
This information helps track situations that are critical especially in terms of domain management and security.
WebPixie checks domain registration data daily, using WHOIS or RDAP depending on which the domain's TLD supports. The lookup method is selected automatically per TLD, covering more than 1000 TLDs via the IANA database.
Domain Validity Period
The Domain Expiration field shows how much longer the domain remains valid.
In this section:
- Number of remaining days
- Domain expiration date
- Visual duration indicator
are displayed.
Since the website may become inaccessible when the domain expires, it is important to track this information regularly.
As expiration approaches, WebPixie raises the alert severity in stages: MEDIUM at 30 days or less, HIGH at 15 days or less, and CRITICAL at 7 days or less.
Domain Registration Information
The domain section also displays the basic registration information of the domain.
This information includes:
Created At
Shows the date when the domain was first created.
Updated At
Shows the date when the domain was last updated.
DNSSEC Status
Shows the domain's DNSSEC validation state (Secure, Insecure, Bogus, or Indeterminate). DNSSEC configuration provides additional security against attacks such as DNS spoofing. See the DNS section for details on each state.
Name Servers
The Name Servers section shows which DNS servers the domain is connected to.
Name server records refer to the authoritative servers used for DNS resolution of the domain. This information plays an important role especially in detecting DNS configuration issues.
Domain Status
The Domain Status field shows the status codes (EPP status flags) of the domain at the registry level.
These statuses typically limit or provide protection for operations that can be performed on the domain. For example:
- Blocking domain transfer
- Restricting domain deletion operations
- Restricting domain updates
- Renewal or grace period states
- Registrar hold or post-expiry deletion states (e.g. clientHold/serverHold, redemptionPeriod/pendingDelete)
These statuses can be applied by the registry to enhance the security of the domain.
If the domain enters a registrar hold or post-expiry deletion state, WebPixie automatically opens a Domain Suspended incident.
Other changes to registrar, nameservers, transfer lock, or general status flags are tracked and shown as domain registration data, but do not generate alerts or incidents on their own — only expiration and suspension trigger notifications.
Registrar Information
The Registrar Information section provides information about the domain registrar where the domain is registered.
The following information can be found in this section:
- Registrar name
- WHOIS server
- Registrar website
- Contact information
- Abuse contact information
- Registrant, Administrative, and Technical contact blocks (name, organization, address, postal code, email, phone, fax)
This information can be used as a reference during domain management or transfer operations.
Contact fields are not guaranteed for every domain. Many registrars redact this data for privacy/GDPR reasons, so some fields may appear empty depending on the registrar and domain.
Raw WHOIS Data
The Raw WHOIS Data field shows the raw WHOIS output for the domain.
This section allows all technical records related to the domain to be displayed in the format received directly from the WHOIS server.
Advanced users can use this data to perform a more detailed examination of the domain configuration.
